Our Excellence in Education Awards Dinner celebration will be held on Friday, May 3rd at 6:00pm at the HALL at Live! Arundel Mills.
The awards ceremony will include remarks from AACPS Superintendent Dr. Mark T. Bedell, greetings from AACPS Board of Education Board Members, and the awarding of the AACPS Teacher of the Year, the Independent Schools Teacher of the Year, a celebration of the Teacher of the Year honorees, the Education Support Professional of the Year (ESP), and the AACPS Principal of the Year (POY).

PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR/GEORGE ARLOTTO LEADERSHIP AWARD
The George Arlotto Leadership Award recognizes one outstanding Principal in AACPS annually. This award is named in honor of Dr. Arlotto, who served AACPS for 16 years, including eight years as Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Arlotto referred to himself as a “recovering High School Principal” and was instrumental in the creation of the Principal of the Year program. Each year, AACPS school principals demonstrating exceptional leadership are recognized and honored as nominees for the George Arlotto Leadership Award.

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST OF THE YEAR
SAAAAC’s Education Support Professional (ESP) members take care of the children of Anne Arundel County, making sure they have the tools they need to succeed in our schools and classrooms. They are the Paraeducators who provides your child with a little extra help in the classroom, the Office Assistants who makes sure your son’s records are up to date, and the Technician who wires the classroom computers.
